Outer side reinforcement with outer B pillar reinforcement (conv.)

Mount the car in an alignment bench with measuring fixture and cross-measure as necessary.
|

Remove the side panel.
|
3.
|
Remove the door frame.
|
4.
|
Cut the B pillar reinforcement at the bottom.
|
5.
|
Drill out the spot welds.
|
6.
|
Knock away the reinforcements and align any deformed metalwork.
|
7.
|
Drill out the spot welds securing the remaining sections of B pillar reinforcement and knock it loose.
|
8.
|
Grind clean the surfaces to be welded on the new reinforcements.
|
9.
|
Grind clean the surfaces to be welded on the body.
|
10.
|
Drill holes for plug-welding the bottom of the B pillar reinforcement.
|
11.
|
Apply welding primer to the surfaces to be spot welded or plug welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.
|
12.
|
Put the new reinforcements in place and secure them with some welding clamps.
|
13.
|
Put the side panel and door frame in place and check the fit.
|
14.
|
Remove the side panel and door frame.
|
15.
|
Weld the outer side reinforcement and B pillar reinforcement in place.
|
16.
|
Seam weld the upper edge of the B pillar reinforcement to the side panel reinforcement.
|
17.
|
Plug weld the bottom of the B pillar reinforcement.
|
18.
|
Grind the welds clean.
|

|
Fit the door frame and side panel. See

20.
|
Wash off surplus welding primer. Welding primer makes for poorer adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.

21.
|
Apply primer to all surfaces that have been ground clean. Use Standox 1K Füllprimer.

22.
|
Seal joints and metal folds with putty. Use Terostat 1K-PUR.
|
23.
|
Apply anti-corrosion agent to internal surfaces after painting. Use Terotex HV 400.
