Section of inner sill (conv.)

1. Mount the car in an alignment jig with measuring fixture and cross-measure as necessary.

2. Remove the side panel.

3. Remove the door frame.

4. Remove the outer sill reinforcement.

5. Remove the junction plate.

6. Remove the inner sill reinforcement.

7. Drill out the spot welds.

8. Cut the back edge of the inner sill.

9. Knock the inner sill away.

10. Realign any deformed metalwork.

11. Cut the spare part roughly to size so that it overlaps the joint at the rear edge by about three centimetres.

12. Position the spare part and fix it with a few welding clamps.

13. Cut through the spare part and the body at the same time so that the joint can be butt welded.

14. Use a grinder to clean the areas on the spare part and the body that are to be welded.

15. Apply welding primer to the surfaces which are to be spot welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.

16. Position the spare part and fix it with a few welding clamps.

17. Spot weld the spare part in place.

18. Weld the joint at the rear edge of the sill.

19. Grind the welds clean.

20. Wash off surplus welding primer. Welding primer makes for poorer adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.

21. Apply primer to all surfaces that have been ground clean. Use Standox 1K Füllprimer.

22. Seal joints and metal folds with putty. Use Terostat 1K-PUR.
