Background

Temperature differences between the left and right-hand air vents may be experienced on cars without A/C / ACC. In the event of customer complaints, fit an air deflector to provide a more even distribution of heat between the left and right-hand sides.

Diagnostic procedure


1. Remove the glove compartment.


2. Remove the side of the centre console.

3. On cars with passenger airbag:

Remove the knee guard.

4. Remove the air duct on the floor.

5. Remove the air duct to the dashboard's side vent.

6. Cars with automatic transmission:


Remove the automatic transmission control module from the bracket on the bulkhead and let it hang on its cables.

7. Remove the bracket.

8. Unplug the dashboard wiring harness. Open the cable tie and bend the wiring harness to one side.

9. Fold away the floor mat.

10. Unscrew the protective cap and remove it.

11. Unscrew the remaining screws on the end cover.

12. Break the clips to make the procedure easier. Remove the end cover.

13. Remove the end cover seal.

14. Insert the air deflector so that the markings UP and IN are in the correct position.


15. Make sure the air deflector is in the correct position.


16. Fit the new end cover seal.

The arrows on the illustration indicate the car's direction of travel.

17. Fit the end cover and replace the protective cap. Connect the dashboard wiring harness and secure it with cable ties. Replace the mat.


18. Screw on the bracket for the automatic transmission control module and fit the control module.

19. Fit the air duct leading to the dashboard's side vent and the floor air duct.


20. Cars with an airbag on the passenger's side:

Fit the knee guard and tighten the nuts.

21. Refit the side of the centre console and the glove compartment.
