The soft top cover must be lowered while carrying out this procedure.

Fold down the rear backrest and pull the emergency closing lever.
|
3. |
Fold the luggage compartment mat forwards.
|
4. |
Remove the sill protection.
|
5. |
Loosen the luggage compartment seal on the right-hand side and fold it out of the way.
|
6. |
Undo the luggage compartment trim on the right-hand side and fold it out of the way.
|
7. |
Remove the right-hand lamp cluster.
|
8. |
Undo the four retaining screws on the joint.
|
9. |
Detach the operating cables for the soft top cover latches from the bracket and operating arm.
|
10. |
Remove the three bracket retaining screws.
|
11. |
Detach the emergency closing lever cable from the bracket.
|
12. |
Unplug the electrical connectors.
|
13. |
Lift out the bracket and motor.
|
14. |
Cut off the cable ties and remove the potentiometer.
|
15. |
Remove the four motor retaining screws and the screw in the motor shaft.

To fit |
1. |
Screw the motor on the bracket.
|
2. |
Screw on the potentiometer.
|
3. |
Plug in the connectors and fit new cable ties.
|
4. |
Attach the emergency closing lever cable to the bracket and control arm.
|
5. |
Press the shaft onto the joint and tighten the bracket retaining screws.
|
6. |
Fit the soft top cover latch cables to the bracket and control arm.
|
7. |
Apply threadlocker to the joint locking screws and tighten them.
|
8. |
Press back the emergency closing lever.
|
9. |
Fold up the backrest.
|
10. |
Fit the right-hand lamp cluster.
|
11. |
Put back the luggage compartment trim.
|
12. |
Put back the luggage compartment seal and sill protection.
|
13. |
Fold back the luggage compartment mat.
|
14. |
Check the function by lowering (opening) and raising (closing) the soft top twice.

Connect the diagnostic tool, clear any diagnostic trouble codes and then program the control module. See
