SAAB WIS ONLINE

B1500, B1520

Symptom: B1500 The soft cannot be operated.B1520 The soft cannot be operated.

B1500 , B1520

Supply Voltage. ( B1500 - Out of Limits, B1520 - Ignition +30 missing when ignition +15 is on)

Fault symptoms

B1500 The soft cannot be operated.

B1520 The soft cannot be operated.

Conditions

B1500 The supply voltage to the control module is too high (>16V) or too low (<10V).

B1520 Battery voltage not present on pin 20 (K20).

Diagnostic help

The status of the +30 power supply can be read with the diagnostic tool.

- Connect the diagnostic tool.

- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

- Read the status of the ignition and +30.

If the function is correct, the diagnostic tool should display ON. The control module receives +30 current on pin 20 (K20) via maxi fuse 5.

During fault diagnosis, check that maxi fuse 5 is intact and that the battery voltage is within 12-14V. (Take a reading on the fuse board). Take reading with the motor stationary and with it running. Also make sure that the ground connections on pins 10 (K20) and 18 (K42) are intact.

Note

When checking the power supply to the control module, the lead should be under load at the same time as a voltage reading is taken. It is then easier to detect voltage drops in the lead.

Make sure the control module is securely fastened to the body.

Diagnostic procedure

1. Check the power supply to the control module.

- Unplug control module connectors K20 and K42.

- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

- Take a voltage readings with a multimeter in the connectors as follows:

pin 20 (K20) and ground..................B+

pin 10 (K20) and B+......................B+

pin 18 (K42) and B+......................B+

Are all the values correct?

yes

Continue with step 2.

no

Check and, if necessary, rectify the relevant lead. Continue with step 2.

2. Final check

- Clear the diagnostic trouble codes.

- Activate the soft top with the ROOF button and operate it for a few cycles

- Make sure the soft top is functioning correctly and that no diagnostic trouble codes are generated.

Has the diagnostic trouble code recurred?

yes

Change the control module as described in

no

The fault has been rectified.
