Control module

Control module

The control module is located on the left-hand luggage compartment wall. It governs the electric motors, which raise and lower the soft top and soft top cover, using potentiometers and microswitches. The control module simultaneously performs a self-diagnosis to detect any faults in the system. This self-diagnosis includes an internal check of the control module and plausibility checks of the values from the potentiometers and microswitches. The six electric motors are checked each time they are run. Faults detected by the control module are stored as diagnostic trouble codes. The control module can store up to five diagnostic trouble codes at one time. Codes must be cleared with the diagnostic tool.

To ensure the best possible contact between the connections between potentiometers, microswitches and the "ROOF" button, the control module sends a burn-off current of 12V, 100 mA to burn off any impurities on the connections. This is done for 500 ms before the control module processor goes into a state of rest.

The control module has three connectors, one 42-pin denoted K42 and two 20-pin, denoted K20 (black) and K20W (white). The functions associated with each connector can be seen in the table "Test readings, control module connections".

In order to distinguish between the different connector pin numbers, the pin number will always be given together with the denomination of the control module connector.
