Fault symptom:
•
Motor cannot be operated, neither manually nor when changing to settings stored in the memory.
Diagnostic trouble codes:
XX641 - Seat front motor power consumption > 50 A
XX642 - Legroom adjustment motor power consumption > 50 A
XX643 - Seat rear motor power consumption > 50 A
XX644 - Backrest motor power consumption > 50 A
Probable causes:
•
Short circuit in motor connections.
Diagnostic procedure:
1.
Clear the diagnostic trouble codes and end communication.
2.
Unplug the connector from the motor and connect a voltmeter across pins 1 and 2 of the motor. Using the manual controls, run the motors in both directions. The voltmeter reading should alternate between + 12 V and -12 V. If these readings are not obtained, the fault lies in the lead between pin 1 of the motor connector and the control module or between pin 2 of the motor connector and the control module. If the readings are OK, the motor is probably at fault and should be changed.
Important
Do not test the backrest motor using any other power source besides the electronic unit. If a different power source is used, the motor could be run past one or the other of the potentiometer end positions. The potentiometer will then slide on the motor shaft and its calibration will be upset (the backrest end positions will be incorrect).
