Handling of control module

Handling of control module
All control modules are more or less sensitive to static electricity and could, if they are handled in the wrong way, be damaged so seriously that they would stop functioning. It is therefore important that the rules below are adhered to every time the control module has to be removed or replaced for any reason.
•
Do not disconnect or remove the control module unless it is absolutely necessary.
•
Never touch the contact pins and never place the control module in such a way that the pins come into contact with foreign bodies.
•
Before a new control module is unpacked, ground the packaging to the car's bodywork and open the packaging only immediately prior to fitting.
•
Avoid using clothes made of synthetic materials.
•
When you work with a control module it is important that you ground yourself at regular intervals. This is especially important when you have been sitting in the car, when you have changed position or moved round the car and it is especially important in climatic conditions with very dry air (like in the winter in cold countries).

In addition, always handle in the same way any control modules which you suspect are faulty. This increases considerably the likelihood of your finding the cause of the fault.
