The CHECK ENGINE lamp (MIL) is located in the main instrument display panel and supplied with current from the +15 circuit. The lamp is controlled from pin 8 of the control module and lights up when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. It goes out as soon as the control module receives signals from the crankshaft position sensor unless activated by the OBD II system.
