Symptom of fault

The CHECK ENGINE lamp (MIL) is on. Undefinable (different functions may be affected, depending on the internal memory fault and/or program fault).

Conditions

When the ignition is switched on the control module's program does not coincide with that programmed by the supplier.

Diagnostic procedure

1. Check the control module



- If the diagnostic trouble code is generated, remove the control module and check its connector. Pay particular attention to possible socket slide-out.



- Check the control module's ground connection and power supply, pins 24, 25, 1, 48 and 60.



- Rectify as necessary and then continue with point 2.


2. Final check



- Clear the diagnostic trouble code.



- Perform a driving cycle:

• Drive the car at varying loads and engine rpm for 5 minutes

• Turn the ignition switch ON and OFF 10 times



- Evaluation of driving cycle: Check whether the diagnostic trouble code has recurred.
