A diagnostic trouble code is generated when the fault criteria for closed loop,
adaptation or emission-related misfiring are satisfied. To facilitate fault diagnosis a special
code is generated at the same time if there is less than 10 litres of fuel in the tank.
In order for the diagnostic trouble code to be cleared without further action, as well as
any special code for low fuel level that may also have been generated, 1 driving cycle carried
out under the same conditions as when the fault first occurred, or 80 driving cycles without the
fault recurring, must be completed.
The CHECK ENGINE lamp (MIL) will light up if the fault occurs again within 80 drive
cycles.
For the CHECK ENGINE lamp (MIL) to go out by itself, 3 consecutive driving cycles
carried out under similar conditions as when the fault first occurred must be completed without
the fault recurring.
For the diagnostic trouble code to be cleared, as well as any special code for low fuel
level that may also have been generated, 40 faultless warm-up cycles must also be
completed.
