Door switches

Door switches


1. Plug in the scan tool and select "READ FAULT CODES" from the menu. If any trouble codes are present, continue on .


2. Select "READ VALUES" from the menu and then "DRIVER DOOR" or "PASSENGER DOOR". Open and close the driver's door or the passenger doors.

Read the scan tool display.

Important

Since the passenger doors are connected in parallel, the "PASSENGER DOOR" command must be used for one door at a time.


3. Unplug the door switch connector and ground it while taking a reading with the scan tool. If this works, the door switch is faulty. Check its operation and change it if necessary. NOTE: the grounding screw must be in good contact with the body metal.


4. Connect a BOB and check the lead for breaks/shorting as follows:




between ICE module connector pin 44 and the switch in the driver's door.

between ICE module connector pin 67 and the three passenger door switches.

5. Select "ACT. INSTR. FUNCT" from the scan tool menu and then "DOOR INDIC. LAMP". The lamp in the main instrument display panel should light up when the ignition switch is "ON".



6. If it does not, connect a BOB with the ICE control module unplugged and ground pin 31.



If the lamp lights up, proceed to .

If the lamp does not light up the bulb is probably faulty and should be changed, see Service Manual 3:5 "Electrical system, Main instrument display panel".

7. If not, check the lead for breaks/shorting as follows:


between pin 31 of the ICE module connector and pin 10 of the main instrument display panel connector (main instrument display panel 1)

between pin 31 of the ICE module connector and pin 38 of the main instrument display panel connector (main instrument display panel 2)


8. If the car is equipped with an anti-theft alarm, also check the lead between pin 31 of the ICE module connector and the anti-theft alarm control module for breaks/shorting.


9. Unplug the main instrument display panel from the BOB cable. Ground connector pin 10 (main instrument display panel 1) or pin 38 (main instrument display panel 2) and then repeat point 6.


If the voltage reading is OK, continue fault diagnosis as described in Service Manual 3:5 "Electrical system, Main instrument display panel".
