Electrically heated rear window and door mirrors

Electrically heated rear window and door mirrors

The electrically heated rear window and electrically heated door mirrors are activated by the switch for the electrically heated rear window.

On cars with a manually operated ventilation fan, power is supplied for as long as the switch on the heating control panel is activated.

On cars with automatic climate control (ACC), power is supplied in the form of a short pulse (100 ms) when the switch on the ACC unit is activated.

The ICE module is supplied with power on pin 66 and grounds the electrically heated rear window relay via pin 35, causing power to be supplied to the rear window and the door mirrors.

The ICE module grounds the relay for 12 minutes and checks the battery voltage every 3 minutes. On M1995 and later models the activation time can be adjusted by means of a scan tool.

Important

The activation time for heating of the rear window on the Saab 900 Cabriolet must not be extended.

If battery voltage is too low or too high, the ICE module ceases to ground the electrically heated rear window and the heating circuit is turned off.

The electrically heated rear window is switched off for a maximum of 20 seconds when starting so that full battery power will be supplied to the starter motor.
