Communication fault with TSAS (hood system)

Conditions

Generated in the event of incorrect data or no data from TSAS for more than 5 seconds.


Fault symptoms

Messages from TSAS not displayed on the SID.

Note

Diagnostic trouble code B1476 could be a consequential fault of B1478.


Diagnostic procedure


1. Connect a ISAT Scan Tool.

Select "SAAB INFO DISPLAY".

Select "READ VALUES".

Select "DATA FROM TSAS".

2. Simulate a message. Open the boot and try to operate the hood. This should generate the "CLOSE TRUNK LID" message on the SID and Scan Tool.


If no message appears on either the SID or Scan Tool, see point 3.

If the message does appear, the fault is intermittent. See point 4.

3. Wiring harness check Check the wiring between pin 5 of the SID unit and pin 11 (K42) of the TSAS control module for continuity and/or shorting to ground.


4. Connector check Check the connectors for slide- out and corrosion.
