INFO DISPL indicator lamp
The INFO DISPL lamp is supplied with current (+15 circuit) in the main instrument display panel and grounded in the main instrument display panel's control module when a signal is received from the SID unit on pins 3 and 4 requesting it to switch on the INFO DISPL lamp. The main instrument display panel tests this lamp for 3 seconds when the ignition is switched on.
Central warning lamp
The central warning lamp is supplied with current (+15 circuit) in the main instrument display panel and grounded in the main instrument display panel's control module when the following indicator and warning lamps light up:• |
ABS (ANTI LOCK)
|
• |
Oil pressure lamp
|
• |
Brake fluid
All these lamps are supplied with current (+15 circuit) in the main instrument display panel and grounded in their respective systems. Other lamps: |
• |
The handbrake warning lamp switches on the central warning lamp if speed
exceeds 5 km/h with the handbrake applied.
|
• |
SRS 2 (airbag) does not have its own lamp. It switches on the central warning
lamp.
At the same time as the central warning lamp lights up, the main instrument display panel sends a signal to the SID unit requesting it to sound an acoustic signal. This does not happen when the ignition is switched on, as the lamps are then only tested. |
Oil pressure warning lamp
The oil pressure warning lamp is situated in the top right-hand corner of the instrument display. This lamp warns the driver when the engine oil pressure is too low.The lamp is supplied with current in the main instrument display panel.
If the oil pressure drops below 0.3-0.5 bar, the oil pressure sensor contacts close and the lamp is grounded. Simultaneously, the central warning lamp lights up and an acoustic signal is heard from the SID unit.
Charging indicator lamp
The charging indicator lamp is situated in the top right-hand corner of the instrument display. It tells the driver whether the battery is being charged or not.The lamp is supplied with current in the main instrument display panel and grounded via pin 15 by generator 2.
If the generator does not rotate or charge the battery for any reason, the indicator lamp circuit will be grounded via the regulator through the generator's field winding, causing the lamp to light up.
When the generator is charging, generator terminals D+ and B+ will both have the same voltage. As a result, both terminals of the indicator lamp receive the same voltage and the lamp goes out.
Connected in parallel with the lamp is a resistor which ensures that the generator receives its magnetizing current when starting even if the lamp bulb is faulty.
A diode is connected in series with the resistor and the lamp. This diode prevents the lamp from lighting up when high charging currents are generated.
EXH warning lamp
A warning lamp for catalytic converter overheating is fitted on cars for certain markets.Current is applied to the EXH relay which operates when the temperature of the catalytic converter reaches 825 ± 25°C, causing the warning lamp to be grounded via pin 13 of the main instrument display panel.
The lamp will then remain alight until the temperature drops by about 10°C.
When the ignition is switched on the lamp is tested for about 3 seconds. If no fault is detected the lamp will go out.
Airbag (SRS) warning lamp
One lamp is located behind the SRS symbol in the main instrument display panel, another consists of the central warning lamp. The SRS lamp lights up for 3 seconds when the ignition is switched on. The central warning lamp does not go out until all its warning inputs are normal.Should a fault develop in the system, the SRS lamp will start to flash and the central warning lamp will light up and stay on at the same time as the SID unit sounds an acoustic signal. The SRS lamp will continue to flash for 5 minutes and then both lamps will stay on without flashing.
If the system has been activated, i.e firing current has been sent to the explosive charges in the gas generators, the SRS lamp will flash continuously and the central warning lamp will light up and stay on. The SRS 1 bulb is supplied with current (+15 circuit) from fuse 17 via pin 19 of the main instrument display panel and grounded by the airbag control module via pin 26 of the main instrument display panel.
The SRS 2 bulb (central warning lamp) is supplied with current from fuse 17 via pin 55 of the main instrument display panel and grounded by the airbag control module via pin 2 of the main instrument display panel.

When the ignition is switched on the lamp is tested for about 3 seconds. If no fault is detected the lamp will go out.
Warning lamp, brake fluid level
The brake fluid warning lamp tells the driver when the level of the fluid in the reservoir is too low.The lamp is supplied with current in the main instrument display panel and grounded via pin 18 in the brake fluid reservoir.
At the same time, the central warning lamp lights up and the SID unit sounds an acoustic signal.
When the ignition is switched on the generator grounds the charging lamp and low brake fluid warning lamp to check their operation.
Handbrake warning lamp
The "handbrake on" warning lamp is located on the right-hand side of the main instrument display panel and informs the driver that the handbrake is applied. The lamp is supplied with current in the main instrument display panel and grounded via pin 1 as long as the handbrake remains on, causing it to light up.
The central warning lamp lights up and the SID unit sounds an acoustic signal if the speed of the car exceeds 5 km/h while the handbrake is on.
ABS warning lamp
The ABS control module monitors the operation of the ABS system and in the event of a fault causes the ABS warning lamp (located in the right-hand side of the main instrument display panel) to light up.When the ABS lamp lights up the anti-lock braking system is disabled and the brakes work just like a conventional braking system.
The lamp is supplied with current in the main instrument display panel and grounded from the ABS control module via pin 16.
At the same time as the ABS lamp lights up the central warning lamp also lights up and the SID unit sounds an acoustic signal.
When the ignition is switched on the lamp is tested for about 3 seconds. If no fault is detected the lamp will go out.
SPORT mode indicator lamp
On cars equipped with a TCM (Transmission Control Module), i.e. electronically controlled automatic transmission, the indicator lamp lights up when the SPORT button on the selector lever is pressed. In SPORT mode, the transmission remains longer in each gear. The transmission stays in SPORT mode until the SPORT button is pressed once again, the ignition is switched off or WINTER mode is engaged.
The lamp is supplied with current in the main instrument display panel and grounded in the TCM control module via pin 23 of the main instrument display panel.
