Diagnostic procedure

1 Check the "DOOR OPEN" indicator lamp




- Open and close the driver's door and check the "DOOR OPEN" indicator lamp in the main instrument display panel.

- The other doors should be closed.


Is the indicator lamp correct?

yes

Continue with point 6.


no

Continue with point 2.


2 Check door indication operation




- Connect the ISAT scan tool.

- Select "THEFT ALARM".

- Select "READ VALUES".

- Select "DRIVER DOOR".

- Open and close the driver's door.


The ISAT scan tool should display "OPEN" and "CLOSED" respectively.

Is the function correct?

yes

The fault is of intermittent nature, proceed to point 6.


no

Continue with point 3.


3 Check door indication operation (contd.)




- Select "ICE".

- Select "READ VALUES".

- Select "DRIVER DOOR".

- Open and close the driver's door.


The ISAT scan tool should display "OPEN" and "CLOSED" respectively.

Is ISAT indicating the correct value?

yes

Continue with point 5.


no

Continue with point 4.


4 Check the door switch's connection to ground




- Remove the door switch.

- Clean the contact surfaces and refit the door switch.

- Check the operation of the door switch using the ISAT scan tool as in point 2.


Is the function correct?

yes

The remedial measures taken were correct or the fault is of intermittent nature.


no

Change the door switch.


5 Check the wiring connected to the electronic control module

Check the wiring harness for continuity between the door switch and pin 18 of the electronic control module.

The resistance should be < 1 ohm

Is the resistance correct?

yes

Continue with point 6.


no

Repair or replace the wiring harness.


6 Final check

Check to see if the fault symptom remains.

Is the problem still present?

yes

See "Before replacing a control module".


no

The remedial measures taken were correct or the fault is of intermittent nature.
