Clutch housing temperature sensor
Clutch housing temperature sensor |
The temperature sensor is mounted on top of the clutch housing and measures the air temperature inside the housing.
The control module supplies the sensor, which is of NTC type, with 5 V from pin 30 via an integral 5,600 ohm resistor and grounds it from pin 16.
The voltage across the resistor built into the control module is dependent on the temperature in the clutch housing.
The temperature is used together with the engine load and the difference between engine speed and input shaft speed to determine the clutch load. If the load on the clutch is excessive, the SID will display "OVERHEATED CLUTCH".
If the sensor does not work or if there is a break in the circuit, no change in system operation will normally be noticed.
