Hydraulic pump (4 cyl.)

Hydraulic pump (4 cyl.)

To remove

1. Drain the hydraulic fluid from the pump. To do this, disconnect the hose from the returnpipe and plug the hose. Connect a length of hose to the return pipe and place the other end in a bottle or similar receptacle that holds at least one litre. Start the engine and allow the hydraulicfluid to be pumped out of the steering gear. Turn the steering wheel from full lock to full lock. Switch off the engine when no more fluid runs out into the bottle.

Important

Never allow the pump to run dry.

2. Remove the hose and the bottle or other receptacle and reconnect the returnhose to the pipe connection.

3. Remove the air cleaner.

4. Remove the belt from the pump pulley.

5. Remove the delivery pipe from the pump.

6. Remove the suction hose from the pump.

7. Undo the pump retaining bolts and remove the pump.

To fit

1. Fit the pump and tighten the retaining bolts, using a torque wrench.

Tightening torque: 20 Nm (14.8 lbf ft).

2. Connect the delivery pipe to the pump.

3. Connect the suction pipe to the pump.

4. Fit the belt on the pulley.

5. Fit the air cleaner.

6. Fill the hydraulic fluid reservoir with hydraulic fluid. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel two or three times from full lock to full lock.
