Steering angle
Steering angle |
1 Inner wheel: 20.9 0.5º
Before the steering angles of the wheels can be checked, the toe-in must be correctly adjusted.
Measurement of the steering angles is carried out using two standard graduated turntables combined with optical measuring equipment, as shown. Each turntable should be centred underneath the respective wheel.
2 Outer wheel: 20 °
3 Optical measuring equipment
Turn the steering wheel, to the left for example, until the right wheel, i.e. the outer wheel, is at an angle of 20 ° . If the steering angle is correct, the other wheel, i.e. the inner wheel, should be at an angle of 20.9 ° ± 0.5 ° .
If the measurements show the steering angle to be incorrect, then one or both steering swivel members must have become deformed. Defective steering swivel members must be changed.
