It is extremely important that body reinforcement is not damaged during bodywork repair. The above illustration shows a summary of permissible joints for a number of frequent repair locations. In some cases , the limits are marked with groove limits in the body. These are indicated by a * in the above illustration.

The dimensions apply to both three-door and five-door body models.


1. The A pillar should be cut in the middle.

2. If a sunroof is fitted, the roof may be cut in the middle of the sunroof aperture.

3. The upper end of the B pillar should be cut at least 75 mm from its centre line.

4. The front of the door sill may but cut a maximum of 50 mm above the mounting hole for the front wing.

5. The front part of the door frame should be cut at least 150 mm from the extended centre-line of the A pillar.

6. The lower end of the B pillar should be cut at least 200 mm from its centre line.

7. The inner door sill should be cut at least 150 mm from the centre line of the B pillar.
