To remove

1. Remove the glove box.

2. Remove the panel from the side of the centre console.

3. Remove the air duct on the floor.

4. Remove the protective cover.

5. Remove the two fan control unit retaining screws.

6. Unplug the connector.

To fit

On Harrison evaporators, the cooling plate on which the fan control unit is mounted is welded to the evaporator.

An aluminium spacer (supplied together with the fan control module) must be fitted between the fan control unit and the cooling plate.

1. Wipe old silicon paste off the evaporator's mounting surface.

2. Apply a thin coat of silicon paste, part no. (16) 30 07 895 on the metal plate on the fan control unit and the mounting surface on the evaporator. This is important for the function and service life.

3. Place the aluminium spacer on the fan control unit. Turn the spacer so that it is lying edge to edge with the side of the fan control unit, see illustration. Make sure the two sleeves on the fan control unit fit into the holes in the aluminium spacer.

Screw the fan control unit to the evaporator. Plug in the connector.

Start the ventilation fan and put it on full speed. Check that condensed water does not leak from the evaporator. Seal if necessary.

4. Refit the protective cover.

5. Refit the floor air duct.

6. Refit the panel on the side of the centre console.

7. Refit the glove box.

8. Calibrate the ACC system by pressing the "AUTO" and "OFF" buttons simultaneously.

Important

On initiating calibration, all previous trouble codes will be cleared. Before starting calibration, a readout must be obtained of all trouble codes stored in the memory.
