Base
Base |
The base is supplied in a new design as a spare part. The first bow must be modified when fitting a base with the new design on an old top stack. Follow the description below under Modification.
To remove |

Remove the outer roof. See

2. |
Blind riveted version:
Remove the tape over the blind rivets on the first bow and drill away the rivets. |
3. |
Vacuum away all the drill cuttings. Use a finger to carefully check that there are no cuttings or burrs left, as these will damage the outer roof.

4. |
Screwed version:
Remove the two retaining screws on the retainer. |
5. |
Detach the base from the second, third and fourth bows and remove it.

Modification |
1. |
Fix the fourth bow to the third base with special tool 82 93 045 (bonded rear window) or 82 93 136 (rear window mounted with clips).

2. |
Measure out the centre of the lug on the first bow and centre punch.
|
3. |
Drill a 3.5 mm hole in the lug.
|
4. |
Fit the base retainer to the lug (apply a little grease to the screw) without tightening the screw.
|
5. |
Centre punch 10 mm from the edge of the first bow and the retainer.
|
6. |
Drill a 3.5 mm hole and vacuum away all the drill cuttings.
|
7. |
Apply a little grease to the screw and tighten the retainer.

To fit |
1. |
Fix the fourth bow to the third base with special tool 82 93 045 (bonded rear window) or 82 93 136 (rear window mounted with clips).

2. |
Fit the base retainer to the first bow.
|
3. |
Stretch the base tightly and measure 62 mm from the bottom of the bow. Staple the base to the fourth bow.
If the top stack has a rear base, carry out the following: Staple the rear base over the front one. |
4. |
Staple the base to the third and second bows.

5. |
Fit the outer roof. See
