Modification of first bow

Modification of first bow

When fitting version C (screwed) of the headlining to a top stack with bonded rear window, the first bow must be modified first.

Important

Place a backstop between the first bow and the outer roof to prevent the outer roof from being damaged while drilling.

Remove all cuttings on both sides of the hole in the first bow so that the outer roof is not damaged.

1. Remove the four Velcro retainers.

It may be necessary to use a hot-air gun. In which case, the closing handle must be remove so that it is not deformed.

Operate the soft top to half open position.

2. Place the headlining in the car and insert the retaining strip into the fourth bow.

3. Tighten the screws securing the rear of the headlining.

4. Position the headlining retaining rails to the mark in the third bow and press on the strip securing the headlining to the third bow.

5. Position the headlining retaining rails to the mark in the second bow and press on the strip securing the headlining to the second bow.

6. Screw on the headlining.

7. Position the headlining around the rear window and press it onto the Velcro strip.

Centre the cloth strip on the first bow and mark out the positions for drilling using the strip as a template.

9. Centre punch the drill markings and fold back the cloth strip.

10. Using a backstop, drill the 3.5 mm holes. Remove cuttings with a vacuum cleaner while drilling.

Important

Use your hand to carefully make sure there are no cuttings left in the tape or in the roof cloth after drilling.

11. Affix tape to the bottom/front of the first bow if not previously there or if the existing tape is damaged and requires replacing.

12. Fold up the cloth band and screw it to the first bow. Fold forward the headlining and press together the Velcro strips.

13. Operate the soft top to its completely raised position (closed).

14. Fit the rest of the screws securing the headlining to the top stack.
