Fault symptoms
No messages on the SID. ACC does not switch between “Soft top raised/Soft top lowered”
Diagnostic help
This symptom arises if there is a fault in the communication between TSAS and SID. SID then generates diagnostic trouble codes B1476, B1478. The fault symptom also arises if SID is programmed incorrectly.
Diagnostic procedure
1 Check SID programming

Connect the diagnostic tool.
|

|
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
|
-
|
Read value “Data from TSAS” in SID.
|
-
|
Simulate a message by operating the ROOF button while the latches on the windscreen member are closed.
The diagnostic tool should display CHECK HEADER LATCHES
|
Does the diagnostic tool display the correct value?
Reprogram SID. Continue with step 3.
Continue with step 2.
2 Check the TSAS output

Connect test lamp 86 11 857 as follows

|
between pin 5 and pin 15 (B+)
|

|
Unlock the roof latches.
|
-
|
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
The test lamp should flash when the control module is awake.

Does the test lamp flash?
Change SID. Continue with step 3.
Check and if necessary rectify the lead between pin 5 on SID and pin 11 (K42) on TSAS. Continue with step 3.
3. Final check

Clear the diagnostic trouble codes.
|

|
Activate the soft top with the ROOF button and operate it for a few cycles
|
-
|
Make sure the soft top is functioning correctly and that no diagnostic trouble codes are generated.
|
Has the diagnostic trouble code recurred?
Change the control module as described in
The fault has been rectified.
