The TSAS (Top Stack Actuation System) raises and lowers the soft top when the electrical circuit is closed with the "ROOF" switch.
Besides the six electric motors, the TSAS comprises of a control module, three potentiometers and seven microswitches. Basically, the system works by the control module activating the electric motors operating the soft top at the same time as it makes sure the sequence of movements is correct with the help of the potentiometers. When the sequence has been performed, the microswitches confirm that the soft top is locked front and rear, and that the soft top cover is locked to the body. If a fault should occur, the motion will be interrupted and a message sent to the SID, which sounds an acoustic signal and displays an error message.
