Communication with SID

If the TSAS control module detects a fault in the system while the soft top is being operated, it will immediately halt the sequence and send a signal to SID (Saab Information Display), which will sound an acoustic signal and display an error message. The signal goes from pin 11 (K42) on the TSAS control module to pin 5 on SID. The SID command "DATA FROM TSAS" under the "READ VALUES" menu shows the current message from the TSAS control module.

The following CHECK messages are found on the Saab 900 Convertible:

TOP CYCLE ERROR




• The operation of the soft top by the electric motors has been blocked.

• The soft top cover has not locked on both sides.

• The fifth bow has not locked to the soft top cover.


CHECK HEADER LATCHES




• The soft top is not correctly locked to the windscreen frame and the car is in motion.

• Attempt to lower the soft top while it is still locked to the windscreen frame.


CHECK TRUNK




• The soft top storage in the luggage compartment is not in its lowest position.

• A large object under the soft top storage is obstructing the soft top storage space.

TRUNK




• Raising or lowering the soft top is being prevented because the boot lid is not closed.
