SHIFT UP LAMP

SHIFT UP LAMP

The SHIFT UP lamp is situated in the main instrument display panel and supplied with current from the +15 circuit. It is controlled from pin 35 of the control module and tested for 3 seconds each time the ignition is switched on. When the car is being driven, a combination of light engine load and high engine rpm will cause the control module to ground pin 35 so that the lamp lights up. This does not apply to 5th gear.

When engine speed approaches 6000 rpm the lamp will light up regardless of engine load.

The engine control module calculates the gear position on the basis of engine rpm and vehicle speed.
