B1192
Symptom: TCS system cannot be turned off with the switch.
TCS switch shorted to ground
Fault symptom
TCS system cannot be turned off with the switch.
Condition
Control module pin 1 shorted to ground for longer than 10 seconds, or switch pressed
continuously for more than 10 seconds.
Diagnostic procedure
1.
|
On repeated depression
of the TCS switch the TCS OFF-lamp should come on and go out alternately.
If this is OK, clear the trouble code and drive the car to check whether the code is
generated afresh.
|
2.
|
Remove the TCS switch from the dash. Unplug the connector from the
switch and check that the resistance across pins 5 and 7 of the switch is <1 ohm when the
switch is depressed and infinite (OL) when it is released. If the readings are incorrect, fit a
replacement switch.
|
3.
|
With the ignition switch turned to the Drive position, check that battery +
is present across pin 5 of the switch connector and a good ground.
If it is not, check the cable between pin 5 of the connector and pin 1 of the TCS control
module for continuity/shorting to ground.
|
4.
|
Check that battery + is present across pin 7 of the switch
connector and B positive (+).
If it is not, check the cable between pin 7 of the connector and grounding point G34S for
continuity.
|
5.
|
Clear the code diagnostic trouble code. Start the car and drive it on test
to check whether the diagnostic trouble code recurs. If it does, see "Before replacing a control
module" for further measures.
