Adjust/check the kickdown function

Adjust/check the kickdown function
1.
4-cyl:
Remove the resonating chamber.
2.
Depress the pedal (possibly with the aid of a pedal clamp) until it just reaches the kick-down switch. Check that it moves smoothly and easily down to the kick-down switch. If it does not, it could be because the throttle cable is incorrectly adjusted.
3.
Check that the throttle is now wide open. If it is not, adjust the throttle cable casing.
Note
Note
To provide a "kick-down feeling", the force applied when pressing the accelerator further down is absorbed by a spring in the throttle cable.
4.
Release the accelerator and check that there is some slack in the throttle cable. If there is not, remove the lower section of the dashboard and carry out the adjustment necessary to provide a little slack in the cable by means of the adjusting screw on the upper part of the pedal.
5.
Start the car and check the idling speed.
6.
Fit the lower section of the dashboard.
7.
Refit the resonating chamber.
