Selector lever wire

Removal



1. Disconnect the battery's negative terminal.

2. Release the floor console and pull it slightly backwards, see Service Manual 8:2, Fixtures and Fittings.

3. Remove the centre console, see Service Manual 8:2, Fixtures and Fittings.

4. Remove the air ducts.

5. Release the wire securing points in the selector lever housing and remove the locking clip at the end of the wire.

6. Remove the battery.


7. Remove the selector lever's nut on the transmission.

8. Remove the wire cover's securing point.

9. Lift up the wire and remove the clip which holds the selector lever arm.

10. Lift up the car and press in the bulkhead lead-through.

11. Lower the car and pull the wire inward through the bulkhead wall.


Fitting



1. Pull the wire through the bulkhead lead-through and on to the battery shelf.

2. Press the rubber lead-through into the bulkhead wall

3. Refit the selector lever arm with a locking clip.

4. Fit the wire in the securing point in the transmission and the selector lever arm.

5. Insert the wire into the selector lever housing and tighten the wire cover.

6. Set the selector lever in position N, check that the arm on the transmission range switch is in neutral position and tighten the adjustment nut with , 87 92 269. Check that the selector lever has the same play in positions R and D.


7. Refit the locking clip at the end of the wire.

8. Refit the strap around the rubber lead-through.

9. Refit the air ducts.

10. Refit the centre console, see Service Manual 8:2, Fixtures and Fittings.

11. Refit the floor console, see Service Manual 8:2, Fixtures and Fittings.

12. Refit the battery.
