Removing right side |
1. |
Lift the car.

2. |
Remove the return spring from the lever on the right-hand side.
|
3. |
Press the rear guide sleeve out of the bracket on the right-hand side.
|
4. |
Press the front guide sleeve out of the bracket on the right-hand side.
|
5. |
Remove the cable from the lever.
|
6. |
Disconnect the rubber bushes from the equaliser and remove the cables from
the equaliser.

Remove the heat shield nuts from above the back axle, likewise the two forward
retaining nuts.
![]() Press the panel to one side and remove the cable guide sleeve from the bracket. |

Remove the four nuts from the centre heat shield plate and bend down the plate.

Remove the handbrake cable from the bracket.

10. |
Pull out the wire from the left-hand side in front of the tank.

Fitting right-hand side |

1. |
Guide the new cable into the
bracket in front of the tank and thread the cable onto the hook.
|
2. |
Fit the clip onto the hook.
|
3. |
Pass the other part of the cable alongside the tank and on to the rear axle. Press
the cable guide into the bracket alongside the tank.

Fit the brake cable equaliser onto the cable and thread on the rubber bush.

Fit the rubber bushes.

6. |
Pull the cables to the rear wheel and fit the front cable guide on the right-hand
side.

7. |
Fit the cables to the lever.

Fit the rear guide sleeves.

9. |
Fit the lever return springs.
|
10. |
Tighten the nuts on the heat shield.

Check and adjust the handbrake (see

Removal left side |

1. |
Lift the car.
|
2. |
Remove the return spring from the lever on the left-hand side.
|
3. |
Press out the rear guide sleeve from the bracket on the left-hand side.
|
4. |
Remove the cable from the lever.
|
5. |
Remove the rubber bushes from the equaliser and remove the cable from the
equaliser.

6. |
Measure the thread length on the pull rod and fit the adjusting nut.

Fitting left side |

1. |
Fit the adjusting nut to the
measured thread length on the pull rod.
|
2. |
Fit the brake cable equaliser onto the cable and thread on the rubber
bush.

3. |
Fit the rubber bushes.
|
4. |
Pull the cable to the rear wheel and fit the cable to the lever.

Fit the rear guide sleeves.

6. |
Fit the lever return springs.
|
7. |
Check and adjust the handbrake brake (see page
