To remove |
1. |
Disconnect the negative battery
cable.

2. |
Remove the drive shaft on the right-hand side.
|
3. |
Remove the lower alternator bolt.
|
4. |
Twist the alternator outwards slightly.
|
5. |
Undo the support bearing bracket retaining bolts.
|
6. |
Move the support bearing bracket off the locating studs on the
engine block and withdraw the intermediate shaft from the gearbox.
|
7. |
Clamp the intermediate shaft in a vice.
|
8. |
Remove the large circlip securing the bearing in the support bearing
bracket.
|
9. |
Press the bearing out of the housing with the intermediate shaft, using
puller 87 91 287.
|
10. |
Remove the O-ring and circlip securing the bearing on the shaft.
|
11. |
Press the bearing off the intermediate shaft, using puller 87 91
287.

To fit |
1. |
Fit the new bearing in the
support bearing bracket. Use special tool 78 41 067.
|
2. |
Fit the circlip.
|
3. |
Press the bearing bracket with bearing onto the shaft. (art.
nr. 78 41 067).
|
4. |
Fit the circlip and sealing ring.
Make sure that the circlip is fitted the right way round.
|
5. |
Fit the support bearing bracket and intermediate shaft correctly in the
body.
|
6. |
Fit the support bearing bracket on the locating studs.
|
7. |
Fit the bolts and tighten them.
|
8. |
Move the alternator back into position, fit the alternator bolt and tighten
it.
|
9. |
Fit the drive shaft.
|
10. |
Reconnect the negative battery
cable.
|
