Soft top cover hinges

To remove


1. Remove:

• Soft top cover. See

• Fifth bow latch motor. See , or

• Fifth bow latch. See

2. Operate the soft top so that it is in the position illustrated.


3. Remove the soft top cover seal.

4. Detach the edge of the soft top storage.

5. Detach the outer end of the hinge spring with an Apex-driver without torx bit or a suitable pipe.

6. Lower the soft top completely and open the boot lid.

7. Detach the luggage compartment trim and fold it back.

8. Mark out the position of the left-hand hinge on the body.

9. Remove the left-hand hinge.

10. Lift away the rod and springs.

11. Mark out the position of the right-hand hinge on the body.

12. Remove the screws securing the hinge.


13. Undo the socket screws in the joint connecting the hinge to the shaft from the soft top cover motor. Lift away the hinge.


To fit



1. Screw on the right-hand hinge as marked.

2. Put the rod and springs in place.

3. Adjust the joint between the hinge and control rod as follows:

• Remove the socket screw on each part of the joint.

• Position the joint so that the ends of the control rod and the hinge rod are pressed in past the screw holes.

• Tighten all the socket screws.

4. Put the left-hand hinge in place and screw it on as marked.

5. Tension the springs with an Apex-driver without torx bit or a suitable pipe.


6. Hang up the soft top storage on the panel flange and press the fifth bow seal in place.

7. Put back the luggage compartment trim.

8. Put back:

• Soft top cover. See

• Fifth bow latch motor. See , or

• Fifth bow latch. See

9. Connect the diagnostic tool, clear any diagnostic trouble codes and then program the control module. See .
