Diagnostic help

The potentiometer value can be read with the diagnostic tool.

- Connect the diagnostic tool.

- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

- Read the value for the potentiometer.

If everything is functioning correctly, the diagnostic tool should display the potentiometer value, which should lie between 15 and 240 depending on the position of the soft top. Check the potentiometer value by activating the relevant motor with the ROOF button or diagnostic tool. Alternatively, disengage the motor with the emergency closing lever. The potentiometer value should change smoothly without fluctuating up and down.

It is important to check the mechanical function of the potentiometer and that it is correctly fitted. The potentiometer guide must not be damaged.

Checking the wiring

Intermittent faults can occur during temporary short circuits and open circuits. Jiggle the wiring harness in several places and in various directions to detect problems in the wiring harness and connectors. Watch the multimeter, diagnostic tool and test lamp during the check.
