Is the drive shaft on the soft top cover motor twisted?
If the drive shaft on the soft top cover motor is twisted, the first bow may knock against the soft top cover. If this is thought to be the problem, it may be necessary to remove the U-coupling on the end of the shaft to see if it is twisted. If the shaft is twisted, the soft top cover motor must be replaced and the cause of the deformation investigated. A twisted shaft is generally caused by incorrectly adjusted soft top cover latches. Make sure the latches are adjusted precisely. See

Are the soft top cover hinges bent?

C.1.
|
The soft top cover cannot open completely as the soft top cover hinges are bent.
Important
|
This problem is fairly uncommon. If it has been established that the soft top cover hinges really are bent, they must be changed.

The reason for the deformation must also be investigated. They can be bent because the soft top cover latches are incorrectly adjusted. See
