Fault symptom

Engine will not start, erratic running, misfiring.

Condition

The control module records more than 20 signals from the camshaft position sensor without receiving any signal from the crankshaft position sensor during the same period of time.

or

The control module records the wrong number of ribs on the perforated disc during two consecutive revolutions at more than 1000 rpm.
