P1675

Symptom: None

P1675

Fuel pump relay, Check Engine or throttle position signal

Fault symptoms

None

Conditions

One of the control module's integrated circuit output stages is used for checking the fuel pump relay, the CHECK ENGINE lamp (MIL) and the throttle position signal. Should an intermittent fault, an open circuit or a short circuit to ground or battery positive (B+) occur and the control module cannot determine the exact cause of the fault, diagnostic trouble code P1675 will be generated. A CHECK ENGINE lamp (MIL) fault will normally cause P1691, P1692 or P1693 to be generated but the fuel pump relay and throttle position signal have no individual diagnostic trouble codes.

Check the wiring

Intermittent faults may occur as a result of temporary short circuits and breaks in the wiring. Jiggle the wiring at several points and in different directions to ascertain whether the wiring harness, including any connectors, is causing the trouble. Observe the multimeter, ISAT scan tool or test lamp while doing this.

Diagnostic procedure

1. Check other Motronic 4.1 diagnostic trouble codes

- Connect the ISAT Scan Tool.

- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

- Select "READ FAULT CODES".

Does the ISAT scan tool show any of the following diagnostic trouble codes: P1691, P1692 or P1693?

yes

Continue fault diagnosis as described for the diagnostic trouble code in question.

no

Continue with point 2.

2. Check the electric circuit

- Study and analyse the wiring diagram. Check the ground connections and power supply (+15 circuit) or connectors in the common circuit for the fuel pump relay and CHECK ENGINE lamp (MIL).

Has the cause of the fault been found?

yes

Rectify the fault.

no

Continue fault diagnosis in accordance with the diagnostic procedure described for P0601.
