Boost pressure control valve

Boost pressure control valve

Checking the signal hoses

1. Undo all hose connections to the boost pressure control valve, from the turbocharger, the intake pipe and the wastegate's diaphragm unit.

2. Blow into the hose from the turbocharger (C) and check that air comes out of the hose to the wastegate's diaphragm unit (W).

3. Blow into the return hose from the intake pipe (R) and check that air comes out of the hose to the wastegate's diaphragm unit (W).

Checking the throttling of the boost pressure control valve

There is a throttle in the boost pressure control valve's connection to the turbo compressor (C), which makes this opening more prone to clogging up with dirt etc. Check that the throttle is not clogged up with dirt. If the hole is too small or you cannot remove the dirt, fit a new boost pressure control valve.

For electrical checking, see 2:7 Service Manual "Engine Management System".

To remove

2. Undo the hose clips and hose connections to the boost pressure control valve.

3. Remove the screws which hold the boost pressure control valve to the bodywork.

To fit

1. Position the boost pressure control valve and tighten the screws.

2. Refit the hoses to their respective nipples.

3. Plug in the boost pressure control valve's connector.
