ICE (Integrated Central Electronics) is a programmable
electronic unit which controls a number of relays as well as sending
and receiving information to and from different components.

Signals controlling the following lighting system functions go out

    from

   ICE:

      | • | Interior lighting and reading lamps

 |

      | • | Direction indicators, hazard flashers

 |

      | • | Monitoring of rear parking lights and brake lights
The following lighting system components send information

        to

       ICE:

 |

      | • | Stalk switch for lights

 |

      | • | Direction indicator switch

 |

      | • | Switch for extra fog lights

 |

      | • | Brake-light switch
 The following information is sent

        out

       from ICE:

 |

      | • | Rear or brake light bulb failure to the auxiliary instrument panel

 |

      | • | The sound to be used for the direction indicators

 |

If a bulb at the rear fails, ICE sends a signal to the
auxiliary instrument panel which grounds the "BULB FAILURE" warning
lamp in main instrument panel 1.

If a bulb at the front fails, the filament monitor grounds the lamp in
the main instrument panel via the auxiliary instrument panel.

If the car is equipped with auxiliary instrument panel 2 or 3, ICE and
the filament monitor send a signal to the auxiliary instrument panel,
which lights up a message on the display:

      | • | REAR LAMP FAILED

 |

Simultaneously, the auxiliary instrument panel lights up the INFO
DISPL lamp in main instrument panel 2.

ICE also controls a "Follow me home" function, i.e. if the headlamp
flasher is activated after the door has been opened, dipped beams will
remain on for about half a minute.
