Points to remember when diagnosing faults
1.
It may sometimes be worthwhile unplugging connectors to check that the connections and pins are undamaged and firmly in place.
Plug in the connectors again. If possible, start the car or drive it to check whether the trouble persists.
2.
Since all signals round the 12 V level are proportional to battery voltage, the signal levels should be used as guidance only.
3.
The 0 V signals indicate ground but on a sensitive multimeter could give an indication of a measurable voltage.
4.
Never switch from one unit of measurement to another (e.g. from V, via I to ohms) on the meter without first disconnecting the instrument's test leads.
