ICE has diagnostic trouble codes

-B1432, left-hand direction indicators

- B1442, right-hand direction indicators

- B1433, power supply, direction indicators

Service Manual 3:5 "ICE" contains fault diagnosis by diagnostic trouble code and fault diagnosis, checking the direction indicators.


Diagnostic procedure

1 Check fuse 25.




- Check that fuse 25 is intact and live.

- Connect the test lamp to fuse 25 and a good grounding point.


If the output side of the fuse is live, the test lamp should light up.

Is the test lamp on?

yes

Continue with point 2.


no

Change the fuse or continue fault diagnosis as described in Service Manual 3:2 Electrical system, +30 power supply.


2 Check the wiring connected to the VSS electronic control module


- Unplug the VSS electronic control module.

- Connect the test lamp to pins 22 and 13 of the electronic control module connector.


Is the test lamp on?

yes

Continue with point 3.


no

Check the wiring harness for continuity between pin 22 of the VSS electronic control module and fuse 25, including connectors. Rectify the fault.


3 Supply power directly to the direction indicators


- Connect a jumper lead between pins 22 and 24 of the electronic control module connector.

- Connect a jumper lead between pins 22 and 12 of the electronic control module connector.


The left-hand and right-hand direction indicators respectively should light up.

Do the direction indicators light up?

yes

Continue with point 4.


no

Check the wiring harness for continuity between: - pin 24 of the VSS electronic control module and ground. - pin 22 of the VSS electronic control module and ground. See fault diagnosis in Service Manual 3:5 "Electrical system, ICE". Rectify the fault.


4 Final check

Activate the hazard flashers and check whether they work.

Are the direction indicators working?

yes

The remedial measures taken were correct or the fault is of intermittent nature.


no
