    Diagnostic procedure

    1 Check operation, tailgate open/closed

   Check normal operation:

      | - | the lamp should be on when the tailgate is open and

 |

   Is the function correct?

    Continue with point 2.

Continue fault diagnosis as described in Service Manual 3:2 "Electrical system, luggage compartment illumination".

   2 Check operation, tailgate open/closed

     Continue with point 3.

3 Check the wiring connected to the electronic control module

Conduct a continuity test on the cable assembly between the luggage compartment switch and the control module, pin 3.

The resistance should be < 1 ohm.

    Is the resistance correct?

     Continue with point 4.

Repair or replace the wiring harness.

    4 Final check

Check to see if the fault symptom remains.

    Is the problem still present?

See "Before replacing a control module".
