Diagnostic procedure
1 Check the operation of the remote control

The driver's door should be closed.
|

Connect the ISAT scan tool.
|

|
Press the left-hand/right-hand button, observing the ISAT scan tool's display at the same time.
|
The ISAT scan tool should display "LH BUTTON" or "RH BUTTON" as appropriate, and "NO BUTTON" in the normal position.
Is ISAT indicating left/right button press correctly?
Continue with point 5.
Continue with point 2.
2 Check with new remote control unit

Program the remote control.
|

|
Repeat the ISAT scan tool commands as in point 1.
|
Does this work?
Continue with point 3.
Continue with point 4.
3 Check the old remote control

Change the batteries, then check whether it works.
|

|
Repeat the ISAT scan tool commands as in point 1.
|
Is it working?
The batteries were faulty.
Change the remote control.
4 Check the operation of the remote control (contd.)
Hold the remote control as close to the control module as possible and repeat the scan tool commands as in point 1.
Is ISAT indicating left/right button press correctly?
Unplug the electronic control module and check for slide-out of the aerial pin in the connector. If a visual check reveals no fault, try changing the aerial.
Continue with point 6.
5 Check the driver's door switch

Open and close the driver's door.
|
The ISAT scan tool should display "OPEN" and "CLOSED" respectively.
Is ISAT indicating correctly?
Continue with point 6.
Proceed to "Fault diagnosis, door indication, driver's door".
6 Final check
Check to see if the fault symptom remains.
Is the problem still present?
See "Before replacing a control module".
The remedial measures taken were correct or the fault is of intermittent nature.
