Rear window wiper

Rear window wiper

Certain cars are equipped with a rear window wiper. When the ignition switch is in the Drive position, current is supplied via fuse 8 to switch 61A for the rear window wiper and to intermittent operation relay 83A for the rear window wiper, and also to the rear window wiper motor.

When switch 61A is in position 1, current is supplied from pin 4 of this switch to the ICE, which grounds the intermittent operation relay for 0.5 seconds every 8th second.

The wiper motor incorporates a mechanically actuated switch which controls the supply of current so that the motor always returns the wiper to the parked position after the circuit has been broken by the switch.

This is achieved by supplying the wiper motor with current from pin 3 via the built-in limit switch, through the intermittent operation relay, and from there back to the rear window wiper motor.

This limit switch opens when the wiper is in the parked position and if pin 2 is not supplied with current the motor will stop.

Washing will start when the spring-loaded washer button is depressed. The washer motor and the ICE are supplied with current from pin 2 of the switch. The ICE grounds the intermittent operation relay and the rear window wiper complete three sweep cycles. After 16 seconds the ICE ground the relay again for 0.5 seconds.
