Wipers

Wipers

The wiper and washer equipment consists of one unit for the windscreen, a separate system for each headlamp and, for certain markets, another unit for the rear window.

The wiper motors incorporate an automatic parking function which always returns the wipers to the same position when they are switched off.

Windscreen wipers

The windscreen wipers are driven by a two-speed motor.

ICE controls intermittent operation of the wipers when they are in this mode.

Rear window wiper

The rear window wiper has only one interval function, which is controlled by ICE. When the washer is activated, the wiper continues to operate as long as the button is depressed.

Headlamp wipers

The headlamp wiper system consists of a separate motor for each wiper, mounted underneath the headlamps. The motors have built-in overload protection (e.g. if the wiper blade freezes to the headlamp lens) consisting of a circuit-breaker actuated by a PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) resistor connected in series with the motor. A diode in the supply circuit prevents reverse current from the motor being supplied to the washer pump.
