Important

This test must not take longer than 5 seconds! Checking is not recommended for the turbo version.



The test shows the general condition of the engine and transmission by checking maximum engine revs in gear positions D and R.

Checking the stall speed


1. Chock all four wheels on the car.

2. Apply the handbrake fully.


3. Press the brake pedal hard.


4. Start the engine and move the selector lever to position D.


5. Press the accelerator to the floor (wide open throttle) and quickly read the highest engine rpm attained. The stall speed should be


B258i: 2150 ± 150 rpm.

B234i: 2300 ± 150 rpm.

B204L: 2325 ± 150 rpm.

6. Repeat the test with the selector lever in position R. The stall speed should be the same as above.
