Solenoid valves, S1 and S2, for shifting
Solenoid valves, S1 and S2, for shifting |
Solenoid valves S1 and S2 are fitted in the valve housing which is mounted on the automatic transmission. Both solenoid valves control gear-shifting by opening and closed the fluid circulation system in the shifting stages.
The solenoids are automatically grounded in the transmission during assembly and operate when they are supplied with current via the B+ circuit (battery voltage). Solenoid S1 is supplied with current via pin 1 of the transmission control module and solenoid S2 via pin 3.
The supply of current is controlled by the transmission control module which emits a signal for shifting up or down, depending on speed, throttle position and the selected driving program.
Operation of the solenoids (S1 and S2) as regards gear positions is as follows:

The nominal resistance of the solenoid windings is 13 ohms. Solenoids S1 and S2 are identical.
Electrical faults (short circuiting to ground or B+ and open circuit) in the solenoid valves or wiring will activate the limp-home mode.
