Checking the "stalling" speed

Important

Important

This test must not be carried out for longer than 5 seconds! It is not recommended for turbo variants.



The test indicates the general condition of the engine and transmission by checking the max. engine speed in positions D and R.

Checking the "stalling" speed:


1. Chock all four wheels on the car.

2. Apply the handbrake fully.


3. Press the brake pedal hard.


4. Start the engine and move the selector lever to position D.


5. Fully depress the accelerator and quickly read off the highest engine speed. The "stalling" speed should be:


B258i: 2150 ± 150 rpm.

B234i: 2300 ± 150 rpm.

B204L: 2325 ± 150 rpm.

6. Repeat the test with the selector lever in position R. Stalling speed should be the same as above.
