On-Board Diagnostic II diagnosis


Trip

The engine should be started and the car driven on test in such a manner that all components and functions embraced by On-Board Diagnostic II diagnosis are monitored.

Example : The car should be driven for at least 100 seconds at varying engine loads and engine speeds at a speed above 25 km/h.

For the CHECK ENGINE lamp (MIL) to light up, exactly the same fault must be detected on two consecutive trips.

For the CHECK ENGINE lamp (MIL) to go out by itself, three consecutive trips must be completed without the original fault being detected.
