Brake pedal switch and brake lights switch
Brake pedal switch and brake lights switch |
Pin 25 of the control module is grounded via the normally closed pair of contacts in the brake light switch.
Depressing the brake pedal breaks the circuit to the control module.
To make doubly sure that information on the position of the brake pedal will be available, a feedback circuit from the brake pedal switch is used (see Cruise Control on the next page).
The position of the brake pedal is used for:
• |
Allowing the engine to be started with the gear lever in reverse.
|
• |
Switching off the engine after 10 seconds if neither the brake pedal nor the accelerator is depressed when the car is stationary with a gear engaged.
